The Importance of Silence - Reclaiming Inner Peace

Updated: Oct 15

The Transformative Power of Silence and Reflection:

My Journey in Malta and the New Path

Transitioning into a new season prompts me to ponder the transformative experiences of the past years and months. Following a hectic summer where I felt overwhelmed by various challenges, I started to feel exhausted and burnt out. However, burnout goes beyond mere exhaustion, encompassing a disconnection from one's passions, purpose, and values. Recently, I seized the chance to break away from the daily hustle and bustle by embarking on a trip to Malta. This journey rekindled my enthusiasm for personal development and reestablished my bond with nature and self. Armed only with my journal and a small bag, I embarked on a quest to reclaim my time and space for introspection.

When was the last time you took a moment to reconnect with yourself on a deeper level?

Importance of Silence for Clarity

Clarity in the vision

"In the midst of movement and chaos, keep stillness inside of you." – Deepak Chopra

There is an incredible ability in the importance of silence to refresh the mind and spirit. While in Malta, I made a deliberate effort to distance myself from distractions, allowing myself to meditate, reflect, and re-establish a connection with my inner being. I enjoy wandering through a city, discovering off-the-beaten-path routes, and embracing the feeling of being completely lost. Rather than reaching for my phone, I chose to pause and seek directions from locals. Engaging in conversations with residents often turned out to be enjoyable and led to unique experiences. Do you share this sentiment?

With this trip, I could gather clarity on my goals and aspirations, reinforcing the importance of making time for oneself amidst our busy lives.

As I walked through the charming streets of Mdina, explored the vibrant culture of Valletta, and took in the breathtaking views of Gozo, I realized how essential it is to carve out moments of solitude for self-discovery. This trip reminded me of the significant impact that silence can have on mental clarity and emotional well-being. This October is turning out to be one of the best months of the year. Is this because I took time to reflect, plan, and dream a bit more? Is it because I have a clear vision and concrete goals? The quick answer is YES!

I am happy and proud to introduce to you my passion and purpose. A dream that was put on hold to build Casa Koya and that is today live.

Casa Koya: The Importance of A Sanctuary for Reflection

I used my coaching skills on myself and craved out important and deep questions.

A week ago, Google brought to my attention that four years ago I had all my belongings packed in boxes. It's been four years already. The imposter and perfectionist side of me surfaced strongly and loudly. But by stopping all the rush, and taking time to be right there in the moment, by breathing I gave up of all the noise in my head that was telling I was not enough!

I had time, I craved out time, to reflect on the essence of Casa Koya.

What do I want it to be?

What was the dream that led me to pack my entire life and come back to Portugal and immerse myself in nature?

My journey allowed for personal reflection: Casa Koya serves as a sanctuary for those seeking a deeper connection with themselves and nature. Casa Koya is a place to foster connections with like-minded individuals, is a space for peace, to get your hands dirty in the kitchen and the dirt. Is a place free of judgment and a place for happiness. Casa Koya is a place for all of us to stop the rushing in our lives, to be there in the now. To learn with each other, to be free!

Casa Koya 2.0 starts now! Let's do an upgrade! As a Holistic Health Coach I want Casa Koya to reflect that multitude of dimensions that are all Health!

Exciting news!

I am eager to explore beyond yoga and mindfulness retreats. While health is at the core of Casa Koya, let's remember there is a vast world waiting to be discovered beyond just yoga!

Crafting Goals and Aspirations

Every December I go to Casa Koya and have a deep weekend of reflection. Blue comes with me, I stock up the fridge with nutritious food, I buy one bottle of that good Portuguese wine and I go all in. Slow mornings, long walks in nature, some time gardening, meditation, silence, and reflection are the weekend keywords. The ultimate goal is to reflect on the year that is fast approaching and start creating a roadmap for the one that is fast approaching.

in my opinion, there’s no better time to reflect on your achievements and set new intentions for the coming year.

Our upcoming Silent Sanctuary this December will provide an intimate setting for participants to engage in mindfulness practices, nature walks, and meaningful self-reflection. Limited to only eight individuals, this retreat promises a cozy, nurturing environment to reconnect with your true self.

During the retreat, we will explore methods for effective goal-setting and personal development, helping you define your values and visualize the life you desire.

When was the last time you took a moment to reflect on your journey?
